What’s this blog all about?
This blog accompanies a nineteenth-century interdisciplinary study group started in 2008 by the Department of English at the University of Sydney. It aims to provide a way of accessing, sharing and discussing material for each meeting but also as a means of extending the study group to anyone with an interest in nineteenth-century studies who may not be able to attend the meetings.
This interdisciplinary study group currently involves members from the Departments of English, History and Art History, and welcomes interested nineteenth-century scholars from across the University.
The group has two main objectives:
- To cultivate a more consolidated sense of the nineteenth-century research field in the University,
- To encourage interdisciplinary conversation, that can in turn promote a richer sense of the culture of our research period, and lead to new avenues for collaborative research.
We meet five times each semester to discuss texts, images and theory from our shared field. Material for discussion will be posted on this site prior to meetings.
